Yeah I don't think I'm gonna care too much for this game, but the idea and the technology used are really cool.

Amazing, amazing game, but I don't see it as the future of videogames or anything. Just one really cool idea.

Exciting that he's gonna talk about it/unveil more at E3. cool.gif

i said that because its all done with code. there are no graphic models. almost every game is based off graphic modeling. the code gets renered straight to the game, meaning everything is fuckwithable. that and you can manipulate, literally, an entire universe with an unlimited variety of species.

What the fuck is this? Someone explain.

This dude has a created a video game where you start off as a microscopic organism and then work your way up to eventually human-sized life forms. But, the catch is that throughout the entire game you have the ability to edit your creature/world/universe/etc. so that every player's environment is unique. Also, (as far as I understand) the computer version of the game will be connected to a network of other players whose own creatures/worlds load into your game and influence it.

That's what I got from it.
Chad Gilbert
That's pretty much the idea. However, as mentioned before, the game code does all the rendering, it isn't based off of pre-made modeling engines. So basically, depending on how you edit your character, the game will analyze your characters physical features and create the way your character will move and behave - so basically, you create a completely unique creature.
FUBAR
That sounds cool.

My creature would bring death and destruction to all!

So I sat here and watched... I want this. SO bad.

There's SO MUCH MORE to it than just making a creature! You make tribes, then cities, then whole fucking planets! You terraform other planets to make livable and start all over on each planet... This is incredible.
Lucas

Anyone wanna try and finagle a downloadable version of this?

Can I buy it somewhere? I don't care if it's $100. I'll get it.
robbot says:
i always wanted a game that let you start off as some bum, learn to play guitar or something...if you dont practice you suck if you do, you rule...start a band, have a way to write stuff, if it sucks you suck, if its the shit, you become huge..maybe an online thing...something like htat....

same with like a football game, start highschool to the pros, if you dont do good in school you dont make it...you might not get drafted, stuff like that...
fuali
goddamn, this looks sweet.

or you know what would be sweet? if you like started out as like a single cell organism, and through generations you evolve and change into the most kickass creature you can..and then you like start a tribe of your kickass creatures and then your tribie builds a city and then you attack other cities until you rule the world, and then you go to OTHER worlds and take over them!! that would be sweet as hell....
Kid.
Watched the whole thing. Fucking wow. So basically, this guy's found a way to take a game, give it an uheard of amount of range, and keep it compact. Like those guys said, you start off as a single-cell organism, and through decisions and upgrades you evolve, start civilizations, build, explore, etc. This game is completely different from any other game just based on its range. The creator (didn't even catch his name tongue.gif) compares the different stages to various games from Pacman to Diablo to Sim City. It also links the different worlds created by everyone playing the game, and integrates those worlds into everyone else's galaxy. It's not a multiplayer, but it's still interactive with other people in that you influence other people's environments. It's not the prettiest game ever made (yet?), but the concept and execution are fucking amazing.
nigga pleez
My organism would have a huge cock.
towersinthesky
my creatures will multiply across the whole known universe wiping out all that stand in their superior ways.
