can someone help me and tell me what i need to do to put all my music on my ipod on my macbook (but the ipod is still in pc format) so then i also need to switch it mac format, but i cant lose none of the music on the ipod because thats the only place i have it.. i erased all my music on the pc, so someone please help me :[
Mr. X
use something like iPodRip if you want to copy it to the mac. but if you want music back on both mac and pc, download iDump for windows and copy them all there and enable file sharing between both and just transfer. the fact that it's windows formatted shouldn't affect it, i don't think. i remember being able to do it with my brother's mini, but realizing i didn't want to because he has homo music. =)
john doe coolsauce
so i d/l ipod rip, someone told me to cancel the auto sync before i connect my ipod so that it wont erase my music, but i cant find the menu or option to cancel autosync

guys... im gonna die.

My ipod is broken. I have the mini. When i shake it i can hear moving parts. Its out of battery and when i plug it in it sounds like the clicker wheel is going round and round as fast as possible. But not in a steady rhythm in a messed up way. then a folder comes up and it says apple.com or something. Its a year and a half old. Im pissed what am I to do? Will they replace it?
mark.
Reset it first. You might not have to get it replaced.
presdaddy
It just showed a picture of an ipod with a face in the screen. It had Xs for eyes. I cried a little
mark.
Just restore it. I don't remember the process, but there's an easy way to do it. Go to http://support.apple.com and look up ipod with a sad face.

Hook it up to a computer via USB and press MENU and the center-select button for 5 or more seconds.
Repeat.

But if you really got the sad face it most likely won't work.
sammy
i got the sad face and went to the support dudes at the apple store and the guy said that my harddrive was DONE. the only thing that could have ruined it like that was a hard fall or some odd frequency vibration thingy. obv he could tell there was no exterior damage so i didn't drop it, but i had spilled some icea tea on it that morning :x either the dude was stupid or i tricked him good because i got a new one for free. sup 1 yr warranties.

anyway, i'd try to take it to wherever you bought it, best buy or an apple store etc. they can do tests on it to see exactly what's up.

my ipod broke again in the same exact manner like last time. i charge it on the windowsill by my bed and when i woke up it wouldnt turn on at all. this happened over thanksgiving break too. any ideas on whats causing this? it didnt get wet either.
HeadBurstsOpen
How long do you charge your iPod for?
Robert Hamburger
i put it on at like 1am and woke up at 6am. i was just fiddling around with it and it gave me the battery screen, which is the first thing ive seen from it in like 5 days. i went on the support page and they said to charge it since i have really, really low battery, and it might take 30 minutes of charging even before itll turn back on. well two hours later, nothing yet.

Hmmm my IPod Has been acting up to songs get cut off and the constant freezing. IPods are the major suck.

Yea, is there any cure for this? Didn't some jagon 20 pages back say if you drop it on its back it will stop it?
Lori
I'm going through my 3rd iPod right now.

I had 2 4Gs and my current one is a 5G.

The 2 4Gs I sold to people I know and they still work flawlessly. The 5G is 3 months old right now and is still working perfectly.
I am pretty baffled as why everyone else seems to be having problems.

But yeah, reset it multiple times and if that doesnt do the trick take it to an apple store.
snake+cross+crown
My iPod doesn't reset for some reason. I've already sent it in once, and they replaced the battery.

But for all those who can't figure out what's goin' on, my iPod has a tendency to show the sad face for a few days, and then miraculously work four or five days later. Without me doing anything.

IDUNNO.

Mine was working fine too until I started using it in my car. Those things constantly charge the battery, and overcharging it leads to the battery getting fucked up. Now mine can run for like 4 hours, or 4 minutes. Plus, my screen is broken so I cant even see when the battery gets low.
tgrokz
very funny. im on my 4th ipod. my first one's HD got fucked up (4g), i droped the second one in a puddle(4g), and replacement #2s HD got so fucked up for no reason (4g). i went to best buy with my 2 year warrenty and they gavve me a brand new 5g. i love it. i feel like i have to keep it in the case though and i can never touch it, seeing as how my other ipods got so scratched up.
Robert Hamburger
why did my ipod show me the low battery screen but now wont turn on even though i charged it?
xXx Tears of a Phoenix xXx
i'm getting the new macbook pro. but i think i'm going to wait until august when the intel core duo 2 is released (has anyone seen the specs on that? fucking nutso.)

wise? or should i stick to my damn pc.

That probably means that the battery is dead. When you press any of the buttons, does the apple show up for a sec and then the low battery thing pops up? If so, I think it's dead. How long have you had it for?
mark.
I've only had 2 ipods. Lucky for me, the first one I had was a mini that had the dying battery issue after two years, and now my 30 gig video is working perfectly. It gives me 8+ hours life, 3+ video life. I've had it since December.

yeah it did that once, and hasnt done it again. originally i got the ipod in august and this same thing happened around thanksgiving, so i guess this one is about 6 months old?
FUBAR
That happened to me once. I just let it sit for a couple days, works fine now.
tgrokz
russ, my girlfriend had a mini for 6 months and it did the same thing. it stoped holding charge and just died. it might still be under the manufactures warrenty, so look into that. it should take about a year and a half - 2 years to die.

yeah i have a warranty and its still covered, but its still a hassle to request the box from apple and mail it back in, only to wait for them to send you a new one. would it be better to take it to an apple store?
Lori
They actually fetch it here.

I went to an Apple store with a busted iPod, and they gave me a new one for free. No paperwork or anything. I did have to wait in line for over an hour though.
.dekkert.
Has anybody here ever seriously made a project with Pages and/or Keynote? I'm just curious as to what you can really pull off with this stuff. I don't really feel like trying myself. I wouldn't mind if I'd be in school and it'd serve some sort of a purpose, but school doesn't start for another couple of months and I don't think the half hour of screwing around with it I did earlier, did it much justice.
mark.
Apple will do basically anything to appease it's customers.

I find myself saying this every time I post in this thread, but that's not how Apple works. They send you the new iPod in a box, and you send the defective one back in the same box. It's specifically designed to never leave you without an iPod. In my experience they ship overnight, too.

Does that keep you from being on AIM?
Robert Hamburger
i never sent back the old broken ipod. will that affect me.
mark.
Probably.
Robert Hamburger
oh and last time i did this whole thing, it took 3 days for them to mail the box out that i was supposed to put the broken one in, and another week for the ipod to be shipped to me. overnight shipping...whoops?
mark.
You probably didn't bitch enough.
