I have a feeling that I will probably have to wait until Jan to get a macbook. I'm freaking out, I want my own computer so I can put all my music equip in MY room instead of all around the house. I have a terrible set up. Ugghhh I wish I had time for a job.

Apollo 1.02 just came out today and it's awesome as hell. can't wait to try it out over a longer period of time.

Lori

I can't update lucas, I'm on Rogers with an unlocked iPhone.

What are your opinions on ebay macbooks? I'm finding good deals and lots of them on both reg macbooks and pros, but something about an ebay laptop seems sketchy.
Lori
Oct 2 2007, 06:00 PM
check the ratings and show brian, tyson or me the link.
I can sell you mine in January for a good price. it's macbook pro though.
carrie
Oct 2 2007, 06:03 PM
I'd go pro or not, I just want something that I can a.) record/use garage band/sibelius b.) saves songs c.) have the internet
I really don't care if I buy used or not, I just don't want something that's going to crap out on me, and if I can get something for 600-700 dollars on ebay then I am all for it.
Lori

Lori

I'm quite torn here. Come Christmas-ish time i'll have the opportunity to either buy a really nice MacBook Pro or an Alienware laptop. I know Alienwares are bloated and overpriced but they look pretty fucking cool, plus my friend can hook me up with discounts. On the other hand, the MacBook Pro just looks clean as hell and I've been itchin to try out OSX Tiger after getting violated by Windows on multiple occasions.

Alienware's look ugly to me. I'm going to say, if you want to try OSX, get a macbook. The specs are awesome, the laptop itself is amazing looking, and worst case scenario if you don't like OSX, install XP.

Dell is the best in PC's imo. That solid state drive they have for their laptops is sick. Too bad its $900 for a 60GB SSD. My brother got a new dell for his birthday, they are nice.

I've only ever had Dell. The PCs last pretty long, we usually have kept them for about 4 years before anything funky starts to happen, and I've lived with up to 8 people in my house at a time during the course of those years, so it definitely gets used.

Are they both notebooks? Im planning on getting a vista book after a while at best buy.

a vista book, LOL

Oct 2 2007, 06:38 PM
Not much of a gamer, though realistically neither of those set-ups are ideal for gaming. Only real tradeoff for the Apple is that i wouldn't be able to play Spore, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.

i just can't understand why anyone would want to buy a new windows machine unless they were like, a professional gamer or just needed something really cheap. after using XP, i thought, okay this isn't terrible, but i'd much rather be on a mac. after using vista, i was glad i had a mac to come home to. i don't know any other way to say it; it's just a better computer.

Ian, I thought you were getting a pro? Def. wait for Leopard at least.
nah, i would love a pro but $1,500 with the 3 year applecare and a mighty mouse is more my price range being a poor college student and all. how much is leopard going to cost when it comes out though?
$129
Only a few weeks away!

So pumped.
My semi-random guess for 10.5 release date is the 18th.

I pray that it does not come out in October. As much as I'd love the new features, I think the user interface needs to be finalized before it should go Gold Master.

I understand, and it was a logical descision. Apple has made so much more since the move to intel.

I am still not sure if moving to intel was the right decision.
Speed wise, yes.
Although if you use a G5, you will notice how they seem much more stable and also ... I can't explain it, but like smoother?
