Yep. The UFC is here to make the mon-ay while producing fights that people ultimately would love to see. Everyone loves a freak show. As someone said earlier, the more people that want to see the fight, the more buys you're going to see in return. It's common sense.
Plus, who ultimately cares if Brock is undeserving of a title shot? Are you going to boycott the event? Do you think that Randy is an honorable champion after babying out of his contract the way he did?
This fight is going to be awesome, as are the fights that are to come.
PS: So glad Kimbo was exposed as the fuckin' sham that he is-back to YouTube, son. Maybe the EliteXC will finally fold and stops embarassing MMA.

i highly doubt randy can knock brock out, or stop his takedowns... get use to the thought that brock is going to be the UFC heavyweight champ next month... randy sucks when he fights wrestlers... look what happened against barrnet when they fought...he took randy down and pounded him out.

Hahaha, YES.
I really don't think that you can bring Barnett v. Couture into this. Lesnar's bigger and more powerful but also has worse striking overall and worse submission. Also factor in that Barnett v. Couture was a long, long time ago and that people's abilities evolve.
It's not going to let us down is all that I'm going to say. I don't care who wins.

Why is this such a bad thing? While I am a big fan of pro wrestling, not so much WWE or anything else on TV, how can having a guy who can bring in a huge amount of new fans be so bad? I think people should accept him getting the job done and let him prove himself. It's like Obama with being president elect and all of these people hating on him before letting him get a shot. Not trying to be jerk, just why all the hate to pro wrestler from MMA fans when he isn't a pro wrestler anymore.
Ambush
Nov 17 2008, 07:20 PM
I think much of the hate towards Lesnar being crowned the new Heavyweight Title stems from the fact that 1. he's only had 3 professional fights and from 2. Dana's lust for drawing astronomical pay-per-view buys.
To the average fan (which happens to be most of the UFC's U.S. demographic), people see the numbers on the paper and they see the physicality that's displayed on the television screen. They don't do the research on the legacy and the sweat that some of these fighters have put in and most are just new age fans. Here, fans want to see entertainment and they definitely get that in a man framed in 270+ lbs. of a man who wears XXX(X)L gloves.
With that said, Lesnar outpowered Couture and his punches just landed harder. To answer your question though, I think most of the resistance towards the new champion just comes from his disgusting technique and that the title shot that was granted only because people wanted to see it, not because of experience. He's been in this business no more than 3-4 years, give or take. I think that once he refines his skills and presents himself well and not like a WWE personality, he'll be accepted by the purists. Not like it matters.
PS: Lesnar:UFC champion & Obama:U.S. Presidency is incomparable.
PPS: MMAtko.com in the future if you happen to miss PPV night.

Ha, yeah I guess was going out on a stretch by comparing the two., but doesn't it seem that no one wants to give Brock a chance? It's like just 'cause he's a former pro wrestler he's looked at as scum. But thanks for answering my question. If it wasn't for Lesnar I would never have given UFC/MMA a chance. I'm a pro wrestling fan and seeing a guy like Brock make it to where he is in the profession is pretty cool. At the same time Brock is a big baby.

The reason i said "for shame" is just because, like John said, he's had 3 fights and had only won once in the UFC before
getting the title fight. It doesn't make any damn sense. I think he's obviously talented but it pisses me off that Big Nog
has to fight Mir and THEN fight Brock when he was already the interim belt holder before the Brock/Randy fight was
put together. I'm only bitter about that. Look at Nog's track record. The dude has never been finished.

How did he get a fight in the UFC so soon?
Not saying he isn't good, but fighters with a +6-0 record against inexperienced competition are a dime a dozen, and I have never heard of that camp, so how did the fight get setup exactly?

Dec 16 2008, 04:08 PM
he fought once before in the UFC on a undercard and won a UD, his style is very odd... spinning back elbows, and double flying knees.... the camp isn't a well know camp because no big names fight out of it, its based out of NH and i think Jon fought on a WCF card that Dana might have been at. Dana usually goes to all the WCF cards because his friend actually is the guy who runs the shows. Its where Dan Lauzon has had his last 4 fights, and how Dana had tapout come and do a show on him... (even though they trashed his gym/trainers.....which is my gym/trainers too)

yea, dana was at the WCF championship that jon won in massachusetts and offered him a 4 fight contract. jon was a ny state wrestling champ and so his background is obviously in wrestling. his striking is getting much better though and if he beats bonnar, then it could mean even bigger things. his camp is out of cortland, ny though. it's about a hour north of us, extremely small.
