probation? Texas must suck because ive been off of unsupervised probation since July for a felony charge i wasn't even sentenced for until this January. Never had a piss test or anything...

possession is such a pointless charge...i mean, "you have something, shame on you" and a $100 fine would be great... not taken to a cell, bailed out for $500, add a substance tax ($3.50/gram weed, $50/gram coke), plus $450 court costs (plus an attorney) is a bit much for just having something that isnt hurting anyone else

well havent you just outlined why possession charges exist in the first place? ...those are strong deterrents that tell you not to carry drugs around again. perhaps it is a bit much but ultimately you are breaking the law and (especially in the us) you will pay the consequences...

Deterrents are one thing, but outlining a program that basically takes advantage of most people is a waste. The only pot crime that I usually hear about are small possession amounts (under an ounce). If that's the case and there's still a $500+ bill attached to it, it doesn't seem right. I'm no Ron Paul "let's legalize everything and watch people kill each other" supporter, but reform is almost necessary considering the year we're in. It's not the '60s anymore, the hokus pokus is gone.
