Ok, so, here's the deal:

I have recently worked for a company which is about as shady as it gets. Basically, what they do is, they infiltrate forums, pretend to be real people, then post a couple of "normal" posts and then plant a link in that forum, which is to increase some shady ass site's page-rank on Google.
They also buy old and abandoned domains, misspelled domains (e.g. soasin.com) to plant links on there.

Also, the owner is a fucking asshole who exploits people.

The irony is, that they call this shit "online marketing" and "seach engine optimization".

Do you think there's anything anyone can do against this? I still haven't quit the job officially, but I haven't gone into work for like a week.

You all know who I am, but please, I want some serious answers here of what my possibilities are to put an end to this, I don't want some fucking asshole spamming the internet full of shady as shit websites and making Google or similar search engines basically useless.

Its something that's ultimately futile to fight against, like the War on Drugs. The Internet is always going to have spammers and the like, just like any rudimentary civilization is going to have some sort of black market that can't be properly banished. Even if you did somehow get this company to stop doing shit like that, there'd be other companies and dirtbags to take up the mantle. Just bail, never look back, and go on your jolly way.

that's entirely possible, their entire shit is windows based... and breaks all the time.
that's also quite the punishment, but since 99% of the world has to endure that, it's not enough.

technically, what they're doing is not illegal. they're not impersonating people even though they are making up fake names and stories. they're not squatting (which IS illegal) because all they are doing is capitalizing on misspellings.

the place sounds like a spam company that targets online forums only. the US "CAN-SPAM" act is not a blanket legal measure and only covers email spam.

as unmoral as many think it is (myself included), it is not illegal but really really really shitty.

if it's that big of a concern of yours, just quit and report the IP or company name to major forum companies to be blacklisted or blocked for distributing spam and potentially harmful links.

I know it's not illegal, technically. Unfortunately, the IP thing is not going to work because everyone has to use their own equipment and their own internet connection, plus they have a proxy plugin for firefox.

does he actually sell something? does it link back to his business site or anything? i mean if it does, you could just write against it. that shirt hurts websites more than anyone would believe. That or if you actually start linking all the websites on one page (assuming he has multiple domains) in the same page, google will see they're all pretty much the same and red flag them taking them off google.

no, he sells links, basically a client comes to him and pays him a certain amount for say, 10 links per month. then he outsources these 10 links to some random kids, and if they stay up for a month you get €5 or more, depending on how good the sites are they're on.

oh, well you could fuck the company that's paying him in order to make the company who posts the links look bad, but that won't do much.

just dig up personal information and write about his shit somewhere. how he sucks and shit.
