They are seriously one of my all-time favorite bands. Feels, Strawberry Jam, Here Comes the Indian and Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished are all remarkably original albums. There new album Merriweather Post Pavillion (album art is my avatar) comes out in January.

I saw them at a music festival once and while a few songs were kind of intriguing they mostly sounded like awful pretentious noise. I went to get a hot dog instead of watching the rest of their set and I regret nothing. I've been wrong about bands though, so yeah.

their shows are completely different from their albums, because they just do a bunch of crazy shit and never focus on the actual songs they're playing. And they play a lot of their earlier stuff from Here Comes the Indian, which is really hard to take live I'm sure. saw them at leeds fest two years ago because my brother loves them so i've heard them quite a bit, and i must admit i really enjoyed their live show although i haven't listened to them since. i think i liked it a lot more than i usually would have because i was high as a kite and ridiculously drunk.

I don't need to be under the influence to like Animal Collective. They're just... really good.

I really like Merriweather Post Pavilion.

Just went by Hastings, bought it for 8 bucks (dude I know ripped 6 dollars off it because he wants my body). I've gone through about the first four songs in between my classes. First impression of the first four songs: Pure Panda Bear and Avey Tare pop ballads that are spaced out and dance. Incredible.

As for the packaging, I don't know why they decided to make the sleeve just a box for a smaller case. I guess it wouldn't be Animal Collective if the case was incredibly weird, but it's kind of annoying.

The newest album is the most accessible I think.

"For Reverend Green" and "Fireworks" off of Strawberry Jam are fairly accessible.

the other 3 on their MySpace player are all pretty easy to get into. Grass was the first song I heard by them.

Sung Tongs, Feels, Strawberry Jam, and MWPP are all excellent albums...my personal favorite being Strawberry Jam.

Honestly though, I can only listen to a few songs off of each album, some of that shit is just obnoxious. Peacebone hurts my ears.

There was a show announced today at this really small club that's about 15 minutes away from me. It sold out before I was even aware of it. fml.

I have a friend who gets free passes to said venue and i may need to be a dick and straight up just ask him if i can use them since the show is now sold out.

I just heard about it too late.

EDIT: the show would be ridiculously amazing since the venue probably only holds about 300 people or so.
