sometime next week i'll be going to guitar center to pick out my 4th guitar. i already have about 500 saved up, and i'm willing to spend up to 1500. these are the guitars i'm interested in:
gibson sg standard
gibson les paul studio
schecter c1 classic
can any of you tell me the pros and cons of these guitars, and possibly recommend any others i should try out (that are within my price range). i play every style of music (excluding country) but i'm trying to start a melodic hardcore project. thanks.

i know that gibsons are really heavy, im not sure if you want that while playing that kind of music. One of the guitarists in my band uses a les paul standard, and it is shit heavy. That's all the advice i can give you, since i'm not a guitarist, but i'd go with the sg if i were you.

YAAAAY I love talking shop. If you want a les paul that growls without all the extra weight...see if you can find a smartwood. They made out of these exotic woods and they have a natural finish and weigh like 1/3 of what a normal LP weighs. I would also reccomend Ernie Ball music man....very versatile and comfortable guitar. If you're gonna go for that hardcore sound I'd also suggest the gibson gothic LP or SG, or the voodoo LP. All of them have incredible sustain and thickness.

Hes right, ernieball guitars are the most comfortable i have ever played, no lie...they arent the best sounding though, those are expensive as well. and i searched about the smartwood guitars and theyre not that much more expensive, so i think you should think about that too.

the sg isn't heavy though. i personally have a gibson sg special and it's wonderful. standards are obviously better, i say go with that.

Hey, I got a Gibson SG Special too. And they aren't heavy at all. Lightest guitar I got. And I have the crescent moons on my fretboard.

I was diggin Schecters up until the neck split down the fret board... They're cheaply made. Go with the Gibson. I was using a SG and I never got the tone I wanted out of it.

i hate gibsons, the headstocks are heavy so it goes down and its a pain to hold it up. also, the sg's strapholder is in the back so u have to hold the guitar in place. get a fender texas american strat, what i have. it comes wiht seymour duncans too. gibsons sound muddy as fuck. haha
