Try nabbing a used GSP1101 off ebay.
It's incredible versatile. You can go straight into the board and through the PA. And it actually sounds good that way.

I have a recent affinity for shredder axes after buying that Ibanez Jem for cheap. Just can't seem to get enough of that fast neck on some my other guitars. So now I'm selling off one of my Les Paul shapes in search of another
shred machine. My Jem is getting lonely.

I prefer the McCarty. I will probably buy a custom LP and SG before moving on to PRS though.

LP or SG?
what kind of bands mostly use SG? looks like the heavier bands. Sgs seem easier to play.

LPs actually sit easier than SGs since LP bodies are heavier.

Mar 27 2008, 10:57 PM
from my personal experience, lps are harder to get to higher frets than sgs. they both sound good, just personal preference and what you want to play, really. i play in a pretty heavy band (think misery signals), and i use LP, but i don't really go into higher than 15th or 16th fret.

I prefer SGs. They sound chunkier and feel better in my opinion. It also feels more natural to play them sitting down opposed to the LP. The LPs strings are just too close to your leg.

I buckled and bought another Ibanez tonight. The deal was too good and I wanted it pretty bad. Got this for $415 like new.
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Iba...itar?sku=518870EMG's and a Wizard neck thru... Shred heaven for me.
And good call on Ceriatone Monty. I want to someday order one of the matchless kits and assemble in myself just to prove I can do it. plus I could get some killer tone for cheap.

yea, its a tripple x.
it isnt modded. ive only had it retubed a few times (JJ pre and power) and ive replaced the stock resistors and capicators with better ones. i just flipped the front plate around and painted it white because i hate the cheesy look of the trucker girls.
i think im gonna paint it black and paint my last name (lingerfelt) on it in a bogner/marshall/framus style script.

I would go to a fabric store and buy something similar to the fabric they use on head and cabs and just wrap it around and staple it to the back.

smart people, pelase help me. i won a guitar on ebay by accident. total is $550. description sounds professional, thoughtful and legit and everything sounds good. but not too good though. just normally good. i didnt plan on winning, but i won. naywho i notice he onlyhas 5 feedbacks and theyre alll from him buying, no sale feedback and its only 5. he says its his moms acount. im like wutever and still gonna do it, so i pay via paypal. i asked for a myspace and additional email in case he flakes. but isnt that weird only 5 feedbacks and all from him buying? so after i pay via paypal, he asked me via email wut my address is oso i give tit to him, thikngi he is just wanting to double check cuz its expensive so yeahhh and now hes aking for my full name. i jsut repleid saying that all the info is on the paypal i used. i know it tells them all that crap when you buy, doesnt it? is there some way he could be scammnig me by asking me the info? did the money not get paid to actually him? i dunnnnno. im worried cuz its half a grand here on a guitar i didnt really mean to buy (altho im not gonna mind actually having it). thoughts/ ideas would be appreciated.

He just sounds inexperienced. My first sale on ebay was way after I bought a bunch of stuff.
As long as you paid to the Paypal that came up after the auction, you're in the clear. If someting does happen, get in touch with Ebay.

Ok, so, it was brought to my attention today that the 1960A cab (that i now own, and have owned for a while now, if i didn't mention already) is either 4 or 16 ohms, depending on which jack you use, when switched to mono, and 8 ohms
per side when switched to stereo. I've been running my head through it, switched to mono, and the head's out put is 8 ohms. But it also says 4 ohms, above the two outputs.
It's been set up this way for well over a month now, and i've never had any problems (only some slight crackling when i move the guitar cable, i have to get the jacks replaced).
Does the 4 ohms above the two outputs mean i can use only one of the outputs and run through the cab at 4 ohms (which is what i've been doing)? Or should i use both outputs and run it through the cab at stereo?
Also, if i switched it to stereo, and only used one of the inputs in the cab, would that do any damage to the cab at all?
Here's a pic of the outputs in the back of the head.
Ddjembe Mutombo
Apr 10 2008, 06:30 PM
that means 8 ohms per jack unless you are using both jacks, then it is 4 ohms per jack.
You should be able to run the 8 ohms output from the amp into the 16 ohms input on the cab and be safe. Running 8 out into 4 in will be pretty dangerous for the amp itself.
When I had a mesa rectoverb head and a bogner shiva cab I ran 8 ohms out of the head (since that was the highest offered) and into the 16 ohm jack on the cab (since that was the only load offered). It worked fine.

Alright so I have a shitty fender squire right now. I've had it for like 3 years and I'm interested in purchasing a new guitar. This thing is a piece of shit, it's falling apart, the pick ups suck, etc.
Any advice on what guitar I should pick up? I'm not looking to play shows or anything, I just need something that will sound better and help me advance. I was thinking of an Epiphone or an Ibanez?
