Those are great guitars, but keep in mind that if it's one with EMG's you're better off getting one of the 400-500 series ones just because there won't be any real improvement other than locking tuners.
Get the MH-1000 with Duncans. Money Well spent...
the mh 1000 with emgs is much better, without the crappy abalone binding.

yeah, esp and emg go hand in hand...
i really love my active 81/85 emgs in my esp ltd! they sound awesome, just perfect if youre into metal/hardcore/grind/...
on another note, i should use the 85 more often,it has a beautiful clean sound. shame on me.

I'm getting a new axe soonish and it'a going to be a standard telecaster but I'm not sure weather to get a Mex or a US. I mean what are the main differences? I know they are made out of different materials but what about pick-ups, electronic's etc? Is it really worth forking out pretty much 2/3's maybe even double the price of a Mex to get a US?
Ddjembe Mutombo
Mar 2 2007, 01:53 PM
going from mex to american is a huge difference that isnt visible (except in the sunburst finishes). the wood quality is a lot better, the pickups are of much higher quality and the americans are build with more care.
all in all comparing a mexican to an american is like comparing a squier to a mexican.
dont the americans also come with s-1 switching?
also look into the highway-1 teles, they are build in america but cheaper because of the satin finish and other things, but the wiring they use (i forgot what they called it) makes the pickups sound amazing... i would by a highway 1 over an american standard anyday of the week.
does anyone have experience with sperzel locking tuners? worth the money? because im thinking of getting sperzels.

Does anyone know if Gallien Krueger does 410 bass cabs? About how much would it roll for?
I have a 210 GK combo amp right now, but I'm hoping to save up for a cab this summer. I thought about a 115 or something, but eh.
So cost and quality... what's more worth it: Ampeg 410 or GK 410?
GK's are like steel, and sound great upright or electric, but I've never tried a 410 and never used an Ampeg at all.

I like grovers myself just because they are cheaper but to me they stay in tune just as good as anything else.

Orange amps are pretty sweet. They don't have very good shielding so it's really easy to get lots of feedback. the AD series is a lot more raw sounding, and the Rocker series has more of a modern sound. I prefer the AD.

I kind of hate ESP right now.
First they drop the price of my model of guitar because they came out with a new 500 series guitar, thus killing the resale value on my 400AT. Then I find out my "lifetime no exceptions warranty" is void because I didn't mail in the warranty card within 10 days of buying the guitar. Awesome.
hmmm, never really bothered to do the warranty card thing.
Chad Gilbert
Apr 8 2007, 03:22 PM
Yeah. The input piece on my 400AT is a piece of garbage, because the whole unit rotates when you adjust the nut that holds the whole input piece in place, thus causing the wires to twist and eventually rip. That just happened to mine. So I'm taking it to my local place to get the whole thing replaced with a better part.
I want an EC1000.
there isnt a huge difference between 400īs and 1000īs. the 400 series are quality guitars.
do you like the ec1000 with seymour duncans or emgs?

I'm a JB/59 fan. My friend has an Epi Les Paul copy, one of their highest quality models with EMG's in it, and I really can't say I'm a fan of the tone he gets. I'm sure it varies from guitar to guitar, but his tone just sounds lifeless to me. I like my 400 a lot. Don't you have a 1000, Dio?

Well guys, potentially awesome and sad news at the same time. My uncle passed away about three months ago, which sucks because he was a really awesome person, but I found out today that me and my brother were left a truck, a car, an antique gun collection and supposedly a knife collection in his will. So hopefully, thanks to him, I will be getting some awesome new gear from selling this stuff (minus the antique guns, I'm keeping those).

the orange AD series does not have enought gain to slaughter children, the amp cuts off at gainy blues.
the rocker series has a really modern tone to it, but the break up is to loose in my opinion
the thunderverb is trash in my opinion, they advertise that head as it would be good for metal, but it has about the same amount of gain as the ADs do. i can see it making a killer bass amp
has anyone played the new marshall jvm? looks like a budget triamp mkII to me. it is supposed to be every famous marshall tube amp all in one amp.

well the thunderverb was designed to be a bass and guitar amp, just an amp that can do everything. i dont like the guitar tones, but i have yet to play it through with a bass. im not a huge bass amp critic, but not many people use oranges bass stuff, i dont know if it is too expensive or it is just not worth the money.

I've got a crappy Peavey Millenium series bass that I never use so I ripped the frets out of it, and I've got a Mexi Fender Jazz, as well... passive, though.
I've wanted to try PJ basses, as well as Jags, but no stores around me have them. And do most PJ basses have jazz necks or p necks? I'd looove a P bass with active EMGs, a jazz body and jazz neck. I think that'd be my dream.

Hey Monty, our singer/bassplayer wants to sell his black Ernie Ball String ray. It has a paintchip on the back that is smaller than a dime and a slight crack on the finish on the front of the bass near the top strap button. He wants to sell it for pretty cheap...probably in the $600-$800 range.

Yeah it did, I can understand because I wear my bass really high to that my left hand can reach all the frets right, but it sometimes hurts my right forearm because I play with my fingers, so my forearm is rested right at the top.
