wait they're making another hulk movie? wasn't there an incredible hulk film a few years back?
and saw IV is going to be awful. the first two films i found brilliant. the first for the actual cinematography/production for an indie film and the second for the coolest twist ending ever in relation to the first. the third one was so bad that i was tempted to walk out of the theater, i think the fourth will be the same.

Another bit of exciting comic book adaptation news today! The Y: The Last Man feature film finally has a director, Disturbia's D.J. Caruso, and is actually moving forward! We've been following this adaptation for quite some time, with an initial news post on the script back in March, and a rumor about Shia LaBeouf starring in the film as well. With New Line picking this up, it's great to see this finally moving forward.
Y: The Last Man, for those who are unfamiliar with it, the comic book is about a mysterious plague that kills nearly all the world's male mammals overnight. It centers around a magician named Yorick who's the only male survivor and his male pet monkey named Ampersand that set out to find what may have wiped out the male chromosomes. The comic was first published by Vertigo in 2002 and currently has around 60 issues.
The writer of the comic book, Brian K. Vaughan, has said previously that it's been in development hell for quite some time. Although reports initially said Vaughan would write it himself, Carl Ellsworth (Red Eye, Disturbia) will be writing the adaptation instead. I can only guess Shia LaBeouf's interest had an impact on D.J. Caruso, and then New Line swept it up when they heard LaBeouf would likely star. Just look at the success of the two together with Disturbia - it made quite a bit at the box office. Peter Sciretta at SlashFilm has always talked about how great of a comic book it is and how perfect of a film it would be, and now it's finally going to step out of development hell.
Y is such an awesome comic... and i think shia would do really well as yorick actually. i hope they cast the rest of the characters as well as him. :]

well duh. but y: the last man was the first comic series that i really got into, and it's honestly one of the best written out there. and the more i think about shia playing yorick, the more i think it would be a perfect casting job. idk man, idk.

personally, y is a pretty generic concept.
and having shia would be just throwing a great actor into another movie just too fast (after disturbia, after transformers, after indie 4, etc.). i love shia, i really do, but after too much exposure, the celebrity status just loses its luster after too much exposure.
also, as a personal note, i think that the superman storyline is the greatest comic book storyline of all-time, what with the original superhero/hidden alterego agenda he had to deal with and the love interest he had with lois.
not to mention his doomsday comic. that was epic.
in my eyes, and even as a marvel fan, superman will always remain at the top of my comic book spectrum.

generic concept? possibly. generic adaption and writing? nowhere near it. the characters are great, the story is a lot more involved than you would think, and i'm dying for more volumes to come out :/.
also yorick is a hugely comedic character, very guy-next-door, type of person. i think shia's comedic background would make him perfect for the role.

the supposed "twist" in The Dark Knight is that the Joker will apply flesh-colored make-up to certain exposed parts to throw people off thinking that he has some kind of background/origin/whatever, which he really does not, only to infuriate Batman/the rest of Gotham even more.

I haven't read too much into it because I've been trying to stay away from spoilers, but some insider got ahold of the script and said that that is the case. Also, other insiders have expressed that the Joker is "not as he seems" which makes sense because in all of Nolan's movies there is some kind of twist and from everything I've read about Heath's Joker this would tie into what he's doing.

I'm saying he's putting on flesh-colored makeup to make him appear as a normal guy committing all these crimes, directing the Gotham police department's attention on seeking the Joker's background while he plans on blowing the entire city up, causing one huge mass of confusion.
