so i caught blue jackets @ pens tonight, check the highlights if you can, sick game. 3-0 jackets going into the 3rd, crosby collects 2, some unknown makes it 3 to tie, but the blue jackets take the lead with a jam-in with a minute left. then kunitz ties it and we go into overtime, then he gets the game winner less than a minute into overtime. sick, SICK game.

flyers lost to detroit 3-1 in preseason, JVR got the lone goal for the good guys.

My boy Bobby Ryan with 2 goals and a shootout goal. Freaking awesome. That dude was just unstoppable last year and hopefully he has a good healthy preseason.

I think that Ottawa traded really well now actually. Michalek is a kick ass player and who knows, maybe Cheecho can blow up with Alfredsson. They could've easily ended up trading Dany Heatley for Cheechoo/Clowe in which case it would be a steal for SJ. Michalek is going to own some of those teams in the East.

Idk if Heatley is going to have a huge hangover this season.

my brother skated with a kid who they drafted first round this summer, so i was wondering if it was him and he was skipping college.

I could see them slipping in the 8th spot. I really like their young offense and their defense is getting a lot better. If Quick has another good year in net they could be a playoff team easily.

No way do I see the Kings beating out Detroit, Vancouver, Calgary, Anaheim, San Jose (though I would LOVE to see them ousted), Chicago, Columbus, Minnesota. I'd put Edmonton above LA right now... as well as Dallas and possibly even Phoenix. Their goaltending just isn't there.

Edmonton will be better this year... and LA won't get anywhere in the standings considering SJ and ANA are in the division. LA is a good young team but they still have a couple more years to go. I threw Dallas in there too, but as a team who I can POSSIBLY see placing better than LA. Dallas had a serious chance to make the playoffs last year but injuries really held them back. I would never underestimate Dallas. They are one of those dangerous teams that have a chance to win every night, somehow. Give LA 6 chances to beat Dallas this year and I say Dallas wins 5 of those 6.

Quick was pretty solid last year, and their defense is finally looking decent. They are better than Minnesota for sure.

Dallas is really on the downturn and Turco is proving to be overrated.

Edmonton will continue to get muscled off the puck night after night. They have what, 2 larger competent big guys in Moreau & Penner, and one lesser case with Stortini?
Yeah they have some skilled guys who need to come into their own (fuck...Brule, Cogs, Gags, Hemsky, Nilsson, Comrie), but I just don't see them ever sustaining pressure and holding a zone. Dump & chase is great with the speed they have, but they're gonna get knocked off the puck every time. Especially looking at some of the D they're up against in their conference...Calgary & Van City will run them out of town. In fact, does Calgary even have a d-man under 6 feet?

khabibulin will be able to steal some games for them, but I see them as around a 9-10 team.

Minnesota is still a good club. They are in a pretty tight division though. I still think they have a ton of weapons on that team.

Turco is a still a great goalie. Again, Dallas was tearing up near the end last year.

i peg them more at 13-14.

Can't predict the East team-by-team, I dont follow it as closely.

They went on a good streak around February. Again, they had a mess of injuries which screwed their season. I'm not saying they can stack up against some of the best in the conference but I certainly think they are a solid team.

EDIT: And I still see Detroit taking the Central. Hossa is out until December and Detroit is deadly.

I have a feeling this is the year Chicago takes over. We were not far behind them last year, and since then we have improved and they have gotten worse. They are still a powerhouse, but I would put the central at about 50/50. Depends on how Huet/Osgood do for their respective teams. If Osgood falls flat like last year, and Huet plays even to his career averages, the Hawks have a good shot at taking it. And God I would love to see San Jose lose that division but with Heatley/Thornton up front they just got a lot more dangerous. And I gotta say Nabokov might be one of the most overrated goalies in the league.

anaheim is going to be the best squad out of the west this year. san jose will be decent, but nothing like last year. they need to move on with nabokov, he's the choke there.

We look really good this year. I really loved that Pronger trade. He has a hefty price tag and tbh he is lazy on D and gets caught standing still a lot. San Jose is going to be alright but they have some locker room issues to work out. Michalek was a big reason they were a threat last year... especially in the playoffs. And I've been nagging on Nabby for about 5 or 6 seasons now. Pretty weak overall but they don't really have any other goalie ready to step up.

I think the Ducks finally have the secondary scoring they will need this year with Lupul. And FINALLY someone that can dish the puck to Teemu (Koivu) which we have lacked since Burke fucking traded Andy Mac. I'm very excited for this year.

I'm not even a fan of Phaneuf and I think that hit was fucking great. He shouldn't have bitched out when he got challenged to a fight though.

I don't know if you can say Anaheim will be better than San Jose in the reg. season... They just added heatley to go with an already ridiculous offense... and yes Nabokov is the most overrated goalie in the league. Puts up an average at best Save% playing behind arguably the best team in the league. Powerful offenses like the Hawks had no problem lighting his ass up last year.
