I'd post man-boobs...but I thought the better of it.

If you play bass, what kind? And what style?

I play an Ibanez Soundgear SRX 500, I usually play with a pick, but I'm getting better with mah fingers.

i suck at playing bass. even tho i have one. i wish i knew how to play. kthx.
.dekkert.
I don't have one, but I've played a couple of times. I think it would be quite easy to seriously pick it up.

I -can- play, usually just jam on my brother's Ibanez SR400, but I'd take a downtuned guitar over a bass any day. Much more comfortable to play.

I'd expect more in Jersey...where you at in NJ?

Trust me, I'm the only serious bassist for towns n' towns.

I got this little lovely two years ago:

My first and only bass, it's not the best, obviously... but I've been taking lessons over a year and a half. I've done a lot of theory in lessons, so I'm getting alright. I won't consider myself really good until I FEEL really good, though.

This was my first book, if you've never picked up a bass, it's awesome. It gets you in slow, but it'll get you a good foundation. :

I then got this book, it's really good for helping you move around the bass quickly. It gets into chords and structure, stuff like that. Really helpful. :

And now I have this one, it obviously gets into rhythm, and helps a lot with improv. :

I'm moving on to this one, once my bass teacher gets another copy made (It's out of print). This one is pretty awesome, I've seen it and it's basically really helpful with advanced rhythm, improv and chords. :

Once I'm done with that beast, I'll be a-maze-ing.

Heh. Sounds like a good idea...I've been playing bass on and off for seven or so years...maybe getting something to actually learn from would be good...
