Victory are complete assholes. Shady fucking assholes.

victory obviously doesnt know whats good or bad for them. they signed shit like Hawthorne Heights and Aiden. i havent checked or their label lately, but im sure only like 1/6 of the bands are good, so whats good to them isnt exactly what everyone else likes too.

But Hawthorne Heights and Aiden will make them quick money, because they're popular among the scum of the earth (see random thread). So when the scum of the earth labels them (not popular anymore) Victory will just pick up some more popular bands. I mean look at it right now, ive heard one song from Hawthorne Heights and the scum arn't talking about them much anymore.
Signal to Noise
Nov 2 2005, 10:30 AM
yes you're right that those shit bands make them money, but that only adds to how they dont know good from bad. its good they are getting money off these bands, but signing shitty bands really makes you a bad label, no matter how many scenesters love it.

So for a label:
Quick money = good
Losing money for a long time, but have signed a few good bands = not so good
I'm just looking at it from a business point of view.

I really dont understand moronic people. A label's main interest is to make money. Its a fucking business. They dont give a fuck if they are promoting no talent assclowns, as long as they make money. The people who fucking bitch and moan about terrible bands being signed by "good" labels are just as stupid as the people buying/listening to the stuff. Get a fucking grip and realize the music industry doesnt revolve around you, the 15 yearold cry baby who gets a hard-on when they think theyre the only one listening to "good music".

EDIT: Victory used to be one of the better hardcore labels around, about 3-5 years ago.
(ie: Earth Crisis, Strife, Integrity, Ringworm, Shutdown etc...)
and if I'm not mistaken Refused and Snapcase used to be on it as well.

EVR's definetely my favorite label, without question (Fall of Troy, Circa, FBTMOF, Snake Cross Crown, Chiodos, Bear v Shark, ect)
I saw a commercial for Hawthorne Heights, that said something along the lines of
"Pop music is dead. Victory Records - playing good music blah blah blah"
That just made me hate them more.

I think you completely missed the point.
I agree in part with both Russ and SignalToNoise. It'd be nice to have a label who cared about the musical output, but in such an economically driven world, it's not going to happen. I'd rather accept that labels are going to support shitty bands, and take the good with the bad.
